If you’re a new captain or owner stepping up in size, get the training you or your crew needs for a safe and cost effective transition. Don’t take a risk that can cost you your insurability and your career and worse, get people injured.
With 15 years operating in the Commercial sector operating large vessels to 340′ in the oil fields, tugs in every job they do from international trade with a 580′ barge to ship assist in San Francisco and the Delta to inland pushing of large barge strings and tending to to dredges, I have the experience and ability to get a captain quickly up to speed on your new vessel using closely supervised drills and practice with the captain and crew together.
Tender Tow Training
Learn proper tender towing techniques. Towing a tender is the most hazardous thing you do and most yacht crews are completely untrained and in serious risk often during these evolutions. 10 years ago a friend called me all excited about her new job on a 93′ Cheoy Lee. As she was telling me about it she told me they were towing a large tender and were getting a new bridal made of Plasma Line. I told her “don’t, you all don’t know what you’re doing and Plasma is unforgiving.” A few days later she calls me and tells me the mate lost her foot when bringing it in. I hate it when I’m a prophet like that….
Towing is a very specialized procedure that requires specialized training to be done safely.
